Title: Broken Dolls
Prompt: Character Death (it's temporary, but it's there) for [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Fandom/Pairing: Blue Bloods
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Drugs, minor character deaths, temporary major character death
Summary: God, what a nightmare. Jaime knew better.
The scene they were walking into was always one of the worst. Teenagers partying had taken something designer and now all of them were either unconscious or dead. Danny steeled himself, walking right next to Joe, and walked into the house. They split up, each of them going to check on different bodies, try to see if there were any kids still living or if they could bring them back. He'd already checked ten bodies, ten children who looked like nothing more than sleeping dolls, who were beyond his help, when he heard Joe call out.
“Danny!” The dread in Joe's voice made him look up from the sea of teenage bodies. Joe was leaning over a kid and it took Danny a moment to realize it was Jaime. His stomach dropped when he realized Jaime's eyes were closed, his face was white, and Joe was pounding on his chest.
Before his feet even knew what they were doing, Danny was leaning over his baby brother's body. “Tell me this ain't happening,” He softly demanded of Joe, not really expecting an answer, before he leaned down and started giving mouth to mouth, tilting the seventeen year-old's face back and pinching his nose. This was the last way that he ever wanted to spend his Friday night.
“It's happening,” Joe's voice sounded like the air had been knocked out of it. He was on the verge of panicking, too. “Come on, kiddo. Breathe for us.”
Danny said a silent prayer while offering forth more breath. God, what a nightmare. Jaime knew better. After the anti-drug lesson that their father had given them, he knew better. Danny sat up to look into Jaime's face after giving him another breath, and a burst of air came from Jaime's lips. His eyes still didn't open. “Is he breathing?” Danny was watching his younger brother too intently, waiting for another breath, to answer his older one. “Danny, is he fucking breathing?!”
“Yeah, yeah, he's breathing. He ain't opening his eyes, though. Come on, kid.” Danny answered quietly, still trying to get Jaime to wake up for him. It was all well and good that he was breathing, but Danny needed to see his eyes before he would let his guard down. Now that Joe wasn't giving chest compressions, he gathered his brother's body closer to him, holding his thin body in his arms. In the background, he heard Joe calling for the medics, yelling that they had a live one here. They had a live one here. Danny closed his eyes in pain and kept whispering for Jaime to open his eyes and let them know he was gonna be okay. This could have ended in a far different way.
Joe knelt back down on the floor, across from Danny, on the other side of Jaime. There were other officers on the scene, with less rank and less personal involvement. He put one hand over Dan's shoulder and added another arm behind Jaime's neck. “Come on, kiddo.” Their dad was gonna be ticked, probably would be doing background checks on all of Jaime's friends from now on, but he was alive right now, and that was all that mattered.
