lostandalone22This was written for an assignment that was taking a "borrowed line of poetry." The line was "I have miles to go before I sleep." This is also what happens when you're listening to Rachel Proctor's song "Me and Emily" when trying to write something, lol.
I’ve been driving down this old road,
Watching the world go by.
It’s been hours since I’ve seen anyone else,
But I must continue on.
The night is dark and hazy, but I must reach my destination.
I’m tired and weary, needing to find somewhere to regroup and tend to my wounds.
It’s dark and lonely, and I long to find a friendly place,
But I must continue on.
I’ve been driving all night, trying to get away and make sense of things.
I know the morning’s coming soon,
And he won’t be able to find me with as far as I’ve already come,
But I must continue on.
