Nathan and Peter watched the ball drop in Times Square. This was the first year that Peter was able to come with him, and Nathan was loving how enthralled the three year-old was with everything.
When the clock struck midnight, Peter leaned in and kissed his cheek. “Mommy said you kiss someone to welcome in the new year,” Peter said, sounding very much like he was parroting their mother.
“Did she now?” Nathan asked, chuckling, and Peter nodded his head quickly.
“Well, then, Happy New Year, Peter.” Nathan said, nuzzling Peter’s hair and kissing his forehead.
“Happy New Year, Nathan.” Peter answered back, laying his head against Nathan’s shoulder.
